Jorde’s practice focuses primarily on patent, intellectual property, and other complex litigation. He specializes in litigation relating to innovations in the fields of computer hardware and software, consumer electronics, telecommunications, and oil and gas. In addition to his patent litigation work, Jorde’s representations have included trademark, trade dress, copyright, and trade secret infringement and misappropriation litigations, as well as class action and oil and gas disputes. His experience spans all phases of litigation, from pre-suit due diligence through trial, as well as post-judgment proceedings, appeals, and collection of judgment.
In addition to litigation, Jorde is a registered patent attorney and has prosecuted patent, trademark, and copyright applications from initial filing through allowance or registration. He has also participated in Inter Partes Review and Ex Parte Rexamination proceedings at the PTAB. Jorde leverages his litigation and entrepreneurial background to provide effective client counseling that recognizes intellectual property as an asset. His business counseling includes creating portfolio management and development strategies, creating service agreements for IP-intensive business relationships, and providing solutions to IP-related employment issues.
Jorde and his family moved to Colorado in 2012 to get closer to the Children’s Hospital Colorado and enjoy all that the mountains have to offer. He resides in Evergreen, Colorado with his wife, daughter, and two sons, and is an active volunteer for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Jorde’s representative matters include:
Representation of inventor and former supplier of proprietary offshore oil and gas tool in an intellectual property and business dispute against a former service company customer that reverse engineered the tool to create a competing product. Obtained jury verdict awarding $4.95 million for patent infringement, willful and malicious trade secret misappropriation, bad faith breach of contract, fraud, and unfair trade practices. Judgment further awarded permanent injunction and an additional $1.5 million in attorneys’ fees and interest. Lead counsel in one of the two appeals of the judgment, both of which resulted in the judgment being affirmed.
Representation of residential and data center proxy network service provider against patent infringement claims of competitor, resulting in competitor’s dismissal of its claims with prejudice.
Prosecution of class and mass actions on behalf of heirs and assigns of 700 grantees of deeds conveying royalty interests for unpaid royalty payments, including obtaining favorable deed construction.
Management of patent and trademark portfolio for offshore oil and gas research and development company.
Represented owner of 3G/4G standard essential patents in the preparation of a first-of-its-magnitude Philippine IPO petition against a Fortune 100 telecom company.
Represented knife manufacturer in utility and design patent dispute with former collaboration partner, resulting in client maintaining U.S. exclusivity over its design.
Defended international restaurant chain in multidistrict litigation patent litigation asserted by licensing entity involving secure financial data transfer systems.
Defense of child safety product manufacturer in trademark and trade dress infringement suit by a competitor, resulting in dismissal of suit without client making any changes to its product or packaging.
Defense of white label manufacturer of lip balm products accused of utility patent, design patent, and trade dress infringement by a competitor.
Represented telecommunication company in the preparation of ITC petition regarding patents related to varactors, dual-band Wi-Fi, and multi-touch technology.
